How can I store an iPhone backup on a NAS?


  1. If you don't have the iDevice Manager installed yet, you can download it here
  2. Start the iDevice Manager and select "Backup" from the left menu.
  3. The following view shows the existing data backups created with iTunes or the iDevice Manager.
  4. If an empty list is displayed, no backups have been found.
  5. To create a new backup of the iPhone or iPad, select "Start Backup" at the top of the menu.
  6. In the dialog box you can now specify whether an "incremental" or a full backup should be created.
  7. In an incremental backup, only the most recent files in an existing backup are replaced, added or removed. This saves disk space.
  8. A full backup takes longer and usually requires a lot of disk space, however, in the case of an iPhone restore, you can choose from multiple backups.
  9. By default, iDevice Manager manages the backup location itself, you can change the option and set your NAS or other hard drive as its own location.
  10. To protect the backup from foreign access, you can optionally assign a password.
  11. Use Apply to save the settings and start the backup.
  12. This may take longer depending on the size, amount of data and selected backup settings. A progress bar shows what percentage has already been processed.

How can I copy or move an iPhone backup?


  1. Start the iDevice Manager and select "Backup" from the left menu.
  2. The following view shows the existing backups created with iTunes or iDevice Manager.
  3. If an empty list is displayed, no backups have been found.
  4. To copy an existing iPhone backup or move it to another hard drive, select one or more backups.
  5. Now select "Edit" copy from the menu and set the destination directory.
  6. Confirm the input with OK to start the copy process.

Where can I find the iPhone backup in Windows Explorer?


  1. Start the iDevice Manager and select "Backup" from the left menu.
  2. The following view shows the existing backups created with iTunes or iDevice Manager.
  3. If an empty list is displayed, no backups were found.
  4. Mark the iPhone backup you want to open in Windows Explorer.
  5. Copy either the displayed path and paste it in Windows Explorer or
  6. Now select "Edit" Open Directory from the menu.
  7. This will open Windows Explorer and display the backup directory at the same time.
